Over 6 Lakh Land Disputes settled under Varasat Scheme in Uttar Pradesh





The Varasat Scheme was launched back last year on 15 December by Chief Miniter of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, till now the state government has been able to settle over 6.9 lakh land disputes under the ambitious Varasat campaign.


An official said on Sunday that “The Varasat campaign is being conducted in five stages with a battery of 24,000 lekhpals and 2,700 revenue inspectors of revenue department who are visiting villages to gather information and dispose of complaints,”.


He added by saying that the idea of the scheme aimed at resolving land disputes in rural areas with the promise of "Aapki Zameen, Aapka Adhikar, Sabko Mile Apna Uttaradhikar".

According to the government in the last two months around 6,98,164 complaints were solved and the rest are under the process of resolution.


Under the scheme, more than 10,000 cases have been referred to various revenue courts & moreover the facility is also provided to people to apply through customer service centers.


Due to the efforts of revenue officials, cases have been settled amicably in Azamgarh, Prayagraj, Hardoi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Ambedkarnagar, Ayodhya, Sultanpur Gonda, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Unnao, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Sitapur districts.


VIRASAT SCHEME


The Virasat drive was launched by the Uttar Pradesh government to end the land disputes over the succession rights in villages and curb the property lawsuits that form a bulk of cases at the tehsil and district level.

The novel drive aimed at solving long-pending disputes over the land and property, and prevent exploitation of villagers by the land mafia who target disputed properties.
